Dina is originally from Forest Hills in Queens. New York. But she changed her location into Dix Hills on Long Island right before the end of her junior year. Two of her brothers are Gregory the elder brother of her and Evan. Her career began in the field of entertainment at nine and was modeling. She started her acting training with The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York in which she learned the acting skills of Sanford Meisner, with Ron Stetson, for about three years. Sandra Bullock received similar training and also Michael Douglas and Jeff Goldblum. Leslie Nielsen, Diane Keaton are among the actors that have undergone the same type of instruction. Her first acting role came in Beverly Hills 90210. This led to her relocating to Los Angeles. After that, she was the role of the main character in the film Johnny Mnemonic, in which she did almost all of her own stunts, establishing herself as an athletic actress. Her talent agent was also representing Matt LeBlanc so, through her agent, she was able to get a regular role on Friends.
